How to Reach Enir-Ilim and Open the Sealing Tree

Direct answer: Defeat Messmer the Impaler in Shadow Keep to obtain Messmer’s Kindling. Take it to the sealing tree near the Church of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh and burn the tree; this opens Enir-Ilim.

Progression route

  1. Reach Scadu Altus and enter Shadow Keep from its western gate or Church District.
  2. Work through the keep to Messmer’s boss arena and defeat him. His Kindling is required for the next step.
  3. Reach the Church of the Bud in Ancient Ruins of Rauh and approach the sealing tree nearby.
  4. Use Messmer’s Kindling at the tree. The seal is removed and Enir-Ilim becomes accessible.
  5. Return to Belurat, Tower Settlement and use the route that has opened beyond the Divine Beast arena to enter Enir-Ilim.

Common wrong turns

Reaching the exterior of Enir-Ilim early does not open the sealed route. Messmer’s Kindling is the key item; merely reaching Rauh or the Church of the Bud is not enough. Burning the tree advances the main DLC story, so finish any optional exploration or NPC steps you still want to do.

Inside the tower

Enir-Ilim is the final legacy dungeon. Activate each grace on the spiral ascent and expect a one-way progression toward the Gate of Divinity and the DLC’s final encounter.
