How to Reach Nokstella, Eternal City

Direct answer: Advance Ranni’s quest until you give her the Fingerslayer Blade. This opens Renna’s Rise and the waygate to Ainsel River Main, the northern route to Nokstella.

Unlock the northern Ainsel River

  1. Defeat Radahn and enter Nokron through the meteor crater.
  2. Reach Night’s Sacred Ground and take the Fingerslayer Blade from the chest.
  3. Return to Ranni’s Rise in northwest Liurnia and give the blade to Ranni.
  4. After the tower’s dialogue and item changes, travel to Renna’s Rise, north of Ranni’s tower. Use the waygate at the top.
  5. At Ainsel River Main, pick up the Miniature Ranni doll beside the grace and talk to it three times if continuing her quest.

Follow the river to Nokstella

  1. Travel north through the ruins toward Nokstella. Use the river channel as your main direction marker.
  2. Activate Nokstella, Eternal City grace and use the stairs and bridges to explore the city’s lower and upper levels.
  3. The Moon of Nokstella is in a chest beneath the large throne room in the upper city; look for the nearby lift and guarded approach.
  4. To continue Ranni’s quest, follow the river west from Nokstella toward the Baleful Shadow route and the Lake of Rot.

Common wrong turns

The Ainsel River Well in Liurnia leads to the southern branch, not Nokstella. The northern branch is quest-locked; collecting the Fingerslayer Blade alone is insufficient until you hand it to Ranni.
