Deep Siofra Well: The Caelid Entrance to Siofra River

Direct answer: the Deep Siofra Well is in Caelid, at Dragonbarrow, and it is the alternate entrance into Siofra River. It is sealed by an Imp Statue Seal requiring one Stonesword Key. It is worth a guide of its own because almost nobody uses it, and it drops you into a completely different corner of Siofra than the Limgrave route does.

Why bother when the Limgrave well is free

Two reasons that are genuinely good, and one that is only good in specific circumstances.

  • You are already in Caelid. If you have done the red waste and are not near Limgrave, backtracking across the map to a free well costs more time than the key does.
  • You are going to Siofra for the eastern half anyway. Mohg’s palace and the southern aqueduct are much closer to the Caelid side. Coming down here means you arrive near the content you came for.

The honest caveat: if you have no Stonesword Key to spare, the Limgrave well is strictly better. Keys are scarce in the early game, come mainly from root diggers, and are frequently better spent elsewhere. Do not burn one on this unless you have a reason.

Getting there

Deep Siofra Well sits in the far north-west of Caelid, in the Dragonbarrow area near the Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow coastline. It is a small structure of the same domed design as the Limgrave well, so if you have seen one you know what you are looking for.

The seal is the imp statue holding the bar across the lift. Spend the key, the seal breaks permanently, and the lift opens for every future visit.

What you get

The same region as the Limgrave entrance, entered from the other side. Torrent, fast travel, and flask restoration on group kills all behave identically, because they are regional properties rather than entrance properties.

The practical difference is orientation. Descending here puts you in the portion of Siofra nearest the aqueduct and the eastern side, so the Valiant Gargoyles guarding the Siofra Aqueduct are within reach almost immediately. That is the pair you need to beat to open the coffin route into Deeproot Depths, and it makes this entrance the natural one if Deeproot is your goal.

Worth collecting on the way down or nearby: the region is a reliable source of Grave Glovewort, the spirit ash upgrade material, and the Caelid approach means you are near several Scarab locations without a long ride.

Evidence status

Research-reviewed. The well’s location in Dragonbarrow, the single Stonesword Key cost, the permanent seal break, the shared regional rules, and the proximity to the Siofra Aqueduct were each cross-checked against multiple independent references. Not gameplay-verified on camera.
