Divine Tower of Caelid: Godslayer’s Greatsword Location

Direct answer: the Godslayer’s Greatsword sits in a chest on the far side of the Godskin Apostle arena, deep inside the Divine Tower of Caelid. The tower stands in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow in the north of Caelid, and it is the only Divine Tower in the game you enter by climbing the outside. There is no spirit spring, no lift from Altus, and no key.

Before you start

  • Start at the Dragonbarrow West Site of Grace, north-east of the Isolated Merchant’s Shack.
  • The climb is the hard part. Bring a strong summon, a decent bow, and patience.
  • You can pick up a Numen’s Rune on the outside climb before you ever go inside.
  • You need 20 Strength and 14 Dexterity to wield the sword. It is a colossal weapon and a late-game one, not an early reward.
  • At the very top you can restore Radahn’s Great Rune, but only if you have already beaten Starscourge Radahn.

The climb

From Dragonbarrow West, ride north until you hit the edge of a cliff. Below you are large gnarled tree branches reaching up toward the tower. Jump onto one and cross to the narrow ledges on the outside wall — there is no ground-level door. A Soldier with a flaming pole guards the first ladder. Past it you follow the broken column segments, turning the corner to a corpse holding the Numen’s Rune. Most players walk straight past it.

A ladder reaches the Divine Tower of Caelid: Center grace. The west stairs there lead to a room where you can restore Radahn’s Great Rune, provided Radahn is already defeated. The descent from the Center grace is the long part: drop to the column below, running-jump to a platform that collapses and drops you a couple of floors, then work your way down the braziers and columns. Near the bottom a Radahn Soldier stands beside a pressure plate. Do not roll while fighting him — the geometry makes it very easy to be knocked off backward. Kill him, step the plate, ride the lift down to the Basement grace.

Past the Basement grace a Blackflame Monk guards a mist wall. Defeat the Godskin Apostle, then take the steps on the opposite side from where you entered. There is a wisp of light to teleport back outside, and beside it a chest with the Godslayer’s Greatsword. The Apostle set is your other reward.

Wrong turns worth knowing

  • Looking for a door at ground level. There is none. The only entrance is the climb from Dragonbarrow West. This is the single most common wrong belief about this tower.
  • Assuming you need Altus Plateau. You do not. Most Divine Towers are reached from Altus by spirit spring; this one is not.
  • Rolling near the pressure-plate soldier. You will be knocked off the platform. Fight close to the column.
  • Opening the west elevator room before beating Radahn. The room is there; the rune activation is not.

Research-reviewed. Requirements and rewards are stated from current game data. Not gameplay-verified — no playthrough capture exists yet, and the platforming sequence in particular is the kind of detail that benefits from one.
